Honest answer: that depends on your car, and we do not make promises per model. Do the roof load check: it gives the manufacturer's figure per car model, subject to confirmation. The maximum roof load in your owner's manual is always decisive.

Dynamic roof load is what your roof can carry while driving. The weight of the tent plus the roof bars has to stay below it: Dune 60.5 kg, Oasis 66 kg, Savannah 74 kg, plus the bars themselves. We allow 7 kg for a set, so you need at least 68 kg (Dune), 73 kg (Oasis) or 81 kg (Savannah) of dynamic roof load. Static roof load applies when the car is parked and is much higher. That is why the sleepers do not count. The full explanation is on Roof load: how it works.

You arrange the roof bars yourself, since they differ per car. We recommend aluminium crossbars with a load capacity of at least 75 kg each. With the result of the roof load check we will tell you exactly which ones you need. Feel free to send us a screenshot of your result.

Hardshell: up in about a minute. Release the clamps, the shell opens, the bed is ready. Folding it down is just as quick.

Yes, fitting is straightforward and takes about thirty minutes with two people. The tent is secured with four clamps on your roof bars. Clear instructions are included. If you collect the tent in Hoogwoud, we help with fitting free of charge.

With two people and no rush. Think of it as your warm-up. If you collect the tent from us in Hoogwoud, we help with the lifting and the fitting, and we put in stronger bolts than the ones supplied as standard.

For the drive home: yes. Do let it dry open at the first opportunity, otherwise you will get mould and a musty smell over time. That goes for every rooftop tent, ours included.

After a trip, let the tent dry open before you fold it down. Clean the fabric with lukewarm water and a soft brush. Do not use a pressure washer or aggressive cleaning products. Grease the hinges once a year with silicone spray.

In short: for two people and a lighter roof, choose the Dune (60.5 kg). Want side entry and the most interior space: Oasis (66 kg, 2 to 3 people). Want the greatest interior height (148 cm): Savannah (74 kg, 2 to 3 people). All the figures side by side are on the comparison page.

The Oasis has a 198 × 137 × 4 cm cloud foam mattress, the Savannah 199 × 130 × 5 cm. For extra comfort there are 6 cm toppers for the Dune (198 × 118 cm, € 115) and the Oasis (198 × 145 cm, € 125, fits the Oasis only). There is no topper for the Savannah: that mattress is 130 cm wide, a standard size.

Thin bedding and a sleeping bag usually fit fine with the tent closed. Choose a topper plus a thick duvet and it gets tight. If you collect the tent, you can simply try it.

The Dune, the Oasis and the Savannah are all three waterproof to 5,000 mm water column. And we dragged these tents through Mauritania and the Sahara ourselves for five weeks, sandstorm nights included. What survives there will survive a Dutch summer too.

Delivery takes 3 to 5 working days, with DHL. We deliberately do not offer express shipping: we would rather quote a time we always meet. Within the Netherlands we ship free from € 250 order value; all other rates are shown at checkout, before you pay.

Yes. Collection and a trial lie-down are possible in Hoogwoud (Gouwe 15, 1718 LK), by appointment, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00. We then help with fitting free of charge, so you drive off with the tent on the roof instead of in the boot. Message us for an appointment: +31 6 28075883.

Yes, and we even recommend it if you are unsure. If you like it, we deduct the full rental from your purchase. Everything is on the rental page.

Within 30 days of delivery: new, unused and in the original packaging. The refund follows soon after we receive it. Returning a rooftop tent is a job, so message us: we will arrange the transport together. See returns and exchanges.
